What is ADHD
ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
You may also know it as ADD or ADHD. It's stereotypically thought to be a childhood disorder, however, adults are just as susceptible to the disorder. Contrary to popular belief, not every child with ADHD outgrows the disorder as they get older.
Regardless of what you call it, it's just a way to describe the same frustrating set of symptoms.
Symptoms of ADHD
- Trouble focusing and short attention span, especially when doing something you consider boring (ex: reading, homework, household chores, etc.)
- Forgetfulness
- Procrastination
- Unorganized
- Chronic boredom
- Trouble planning
Typical Treatment
If you go to your doctor and they determine that you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, they're likely to prescribe stimulant medication such as Adderall, Vyvanse, or Ritalin.
Fortunately, these medications alleviate ADHD symptoms drastically. For those that can tolerate them, they're very effective.
How UARS is mistaken for ADHD
You just need take a quick look at the symptoms for ADHD and UARS to see that their symptoms have a lot of overlap.

Upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) is a rare sleep breathing disorder characterized by narrowing in the airways that causes sleep fragmentation and symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring, chronic insomnia, and cognitive issues.
